Stasher
Overview
Stasher is best known for their plain-colored reusable silicon bags, so in 2020 I was excited to receive a request to incorporate some illustrations into their packaging. They initially requested 3 marine-themed illustrations that they would print on a kraft paper mailing envelope for World Ocean's Day. Stasher’s mission is “to eliminate plastic from getting into our oceans and into our marine life and from ruining our coral and plant life in the ocean.”
Marine Illustrations
3 illustrations gave me the chance to explore a good range of marine subjects! We settled on waves, ocean creatures, and debated between coral and seaweed. One of these designs was meant to be an all-over patterns while others would sit below a prominent, centered Stasher logo. All would be printed in one color ink on a kraft bag.
Products
I’m no stranger to circumstances changing mid-project or even after I’ve turned in final illustrations. This particular project with Stasher had a couple twists and turns. The company only used the waves design, and they did print a kraft bag for mailing (which continues to be used beyond World Oceans Day!). Stasher also printed the design on a cloth drawstring bag that is sold with bundles and as gift wrap.
