Overview

In 2018, Google worked with Thinkwell Group to commission illustrations inspired by a naturalist theme focusing on the gray fox, a native animal to California.

The Team

Google first reached out to my fellow artist and friend Emily Dove, who then brought me onto the project to help achieve the scale of work Google had in mind. Emily and I had both taken naturalist courses (in Oakland and Chicago respectively), and were eager to promote general awareness of native animals. We had already collaborated on several nature-related themed works, so we were excited to dive into the world of the gray fox together!

Final Installation

In total Emily and I produced 20 works of art, using a variety of techniques inspired by different aspects of the grey fox. Some of my pieces mimicked the pen-and-ink nature of journaling in a sketchbook, while others were done in traditional watercolor or even printed with gold foil. Emily's pieces ranged from surface design techniques to botanical illustration. The pieces were installed in a photo wall collage by Thinkwell and installed in a Bay Area satellite office.
